The Atomic Bike
Iran and Venezuela have developed an atomic bike joked Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez in reference to repeated American claims that the factory in Cojedes, which Iran built for Venezuela is a nuclear facility and not a bicycle factory. At the factory’s inauguration ceremony, Chavez joked with Iran’s Ambassador to Venezuela Abdullah Zifansaid, “What a bicycle! This Atomic bicycle.. does it have brakes?”
He then offered to sell one to George Bush:
“My dear friend, president of the United States, I offer you this bicycle, see the bomb. See it… you think that is a bottle of water, no, that’s the bomb. We have painted it with ADECO color,” [ADECO is the name of the pro Bush opposition party] “Well, this bicycle, with the Atomic bomb included, the Atomic bomb, you can have it for 183 bolivares.”
Although he might have to fit it with stabilisers given Bush’s known tendency to fall off his bike.
Joking aside, there is a serious point here: the Bush administration has been allowed by the American media to present every deal and meeting between Venezuela and Iran as sinister when none have been. This is and administration who routinely makes outrageous false accusations against its enemies, and has to been to war twice are a pack of lies, once in Afghanistan and once in Iraq. The war with Iraq was ostensibly because of WMD, which they clearly didn’t have, and again the Bush regime uses the pretext of a nuclear weapons programme, which Iran provably doesn’t have, to justifies its imperialist belligerence to that country to. The of course, America’s military satellite Israel uses the exact same excuse to bomb an empty factory in Syria, which clearly couldn’t have been a nuclear facility. There is a pattern here and the media are rarely willing to come out and say it: the Bush regime lies about its foes having nuclear weapons programmes, to terrorise the American public and justify its own acts of aggression and stupidity.
